Herbal Medicine

for healing & passing

Gita Narayan PHD, Clinical Herbalist & Death Doula

I work with my plant allies to guide and support you on your healing journey, and at the end of life.

My work is centred around:

  • 1:1 clinical herbal & holistic nutrition consultations

  • Death doula support for end of life and/or bereavement

  • Transformative plant medicine journeys (coming soon)

  • Teachings in ecology, botanical/herbal medicine

A whole-body-whole-person approach to healing

I draw upon western herbalism, ecology, and ancient herbal knowledge such as Ayurveda, the “science of life”, to match you with the right herbal medicine that allows your body’s innate healing ability to do its work.

Practical End-of-Life Suppport

I offer heart-centered guidance as a death doula, to provide practical support for you and/or your loved ones, ensuring dignity and peace throughout your (or your family members) end-of-life journey. By honouring this sacred transition with presence, respect, and personalized care, my hope is to help transform the fear of death into acceptance, and isolation into meaningful connection. Botanical medicine may also be integrated into EOL care, if you choose.

Whether seeking relief, balance, or preventive care, you will find thoughtful, effective solutions custom-tailored to harmonize with your body’s innate natural song. A song that can guide you back to reconnect with your vibrant Self.

Ecologist (PhD), Herbalist, Death Doula & Founder

Hi, I’m Gita

I’m passionate about bringing herbal plant medicine to facilitate healing for a wide range of health issues. Some of my areas of interest and focus are interrelated and include stress & burnout, anxiety, sleep, cognitive function, metabolic disorders, heart health, women’s health (perimenopause), skin and eye health.

My philosophy is centred around education and self-empowerment. I advocate for slow living, slow food, and natural medicine for inner and outer health aligned with nature and healthy natural ecosystems. My goal is to lead the way with intention, creativity, authenticity, and integrity to help you engage with your body and healing process, so that you may return to a vibrant sense of self and well-being.

Why Choose plant medicine?

  • A balanced approach using herbs that match your energetic and physical constitution, with emphasis on your body’s natural capacity for self-repair (under normal conditions).

  • The sum is greater than its parts. Minimally processed, high quality plant parts (flowers, leaves, stems, roots, resin) are transformed into medicine in the form of teas, tinctures, oxymels, syrups, flower essences, topicals (salves, liniments) etc.

  • Whole-body-whole-person approach to finding and treating the root cause of disease, and not just the symptoms.

  • Gentle yet effective remedies with low to no side effects when used under a herbalists suggests (please disclose all pharmaceutical medications to the herbalist).

  • Autonomy to self-educate, learn about your body, and what works best for your health and healing process.

  • Personalized treatment plans tailored to your unique and complex nature.

  • Our plant allies have guided humans since time immemorial. Reconnecting with nature, the earth, and our lost knowledge of botanical medicines establishes a respectful, reciprocal relationship that address our physical, mental, and spiritual needs.

गीत

Gita Botanicals offers a song for healing, and a song for passing.

Etymology: Gita (गीत) is the Sanskrit word for song or poem. Associated with the epic poem, the Bhagavad Gita or Song of the Divine, it is a love song to both darkness and light, to (the awakening of) our own true Self (Mitchell, 2000).
